Diagnose my hip injury?
I injured my hip in a hockey game today, and I think I hurt my IT band.
The outside of my hip hurts bad when I try to lift it sideways, and when I walk it feels like something catches from time to time and I get a very intense pain in the socket of my hip.
What is injured, and will I be ready for practice? (my team practices 5 days a week 4 hours a day just to give you an idea of the intensity level)
You can not diagnose on yahoo. See your doctor.
Injury between hip and groin?
I’ve had a muscle or something that’s been hurting my leg when I run, especially going uphill (it hurts most to lift, and right after i’ve just run, it starts to hurt so bad i can barely walk) I’ve stopped running and been icing it, but nothing seems to be working, and I thought maybe knowing what it is would help. Stretching my groin does nothing, and it‘s not my it band on the outisde. Is it a muslce there? Something else?
Sounds like an adductor sprain…
Continue putting ice (first 48 hours), bandage it if possible, and rest it, do not stretch it! In turn take some anti-imflammatory medication for the next 5 days. If you have stomach problems make sure you eat well before you take the medication.
Should go away in the next 2-3 weeks depending on severity.
Hip pain? Does this mean I’m done?
I will finally admit it… I have a slight injury… My hip has been in terrible pain for the past year, but I refused to cut back my running. This summer I ran over 250 miles and I finally know now that that was a terrible mistake… My coach think I could have torn my IT band, my lower back is out of place, or my hips move weird when I run. He is trying to cut my mileage down, but I don’t want to admit that my hip is in too much pain to run 5 miles a day for practice… So I finally had my parents schedule an appointment with my doctor to have her write me a P.T. slip, but will I have to stop running? And if so, how long would I be out of Cross Country? I really don’t want to skip any meets
If the best option is for you to stop running, I guess we cannot really do anything about it then unless you want to experience more pains.
Maybe ITB Injury?
My ITB got badly hurt on one run, and while stretching it/icing it, I stretched it and felt a tendon in the front/top of my groin move. Now, I have taken 3 weeks off, and I tried running yesterday and it was awful. The pain is now in the front of my leg at the very top. I have been thinking it is a groin injury, but now I think it is a band in the front of my leg, just below the hip. My ITB and Groin also hurt sometimes.
PS I plan to take another 2 weeks off. Instead of running for all this time I have been cycling.
Go see a trainer or a chiropractor for a better evaluation. Sounds more serious than you are taking it. Ice. Stretch. Rest more, maybe the cycling isn’t helping you out.
How do I treat anterior impingment of the hip?
i have endurable pain in the front part of my hip that doesn’t seem to go away. i have been in physical therapy for one and a half months and have seen some progress. I started out with a high hamstring strain and IT band syndrome with anterior impingment in the front of the hip. now i am just left with a slight hamstring pain buy i still feel the anterior impingment, HOW do i get rid of it before i go back to play soccer. Soccer is how the injury was started
I’d recommend you see someone who has the diploma level certification (Dip.) in mechanical diagnosis and therapy or someone with the certification level (cert, MDT), but has also taken the “extremeties” course in MDT (you might need to actually call the facility and talk to the therapist directly).
It’s a little bit of a different approach to treating extremity problems than traditional therapy. Start by looking for a Dip or Cert, MDT in your area by going to http://www.mckenziemdt.org Treatment is usually quick and self directed.
